Keeping an eye on the law

PL (Bill) 387/2018, proposed by councilor Camilo Cristófaro (PSB) and approved by the São Paulo City Council at the beginning of March this year, was sanctioned by Mayor Bruno Covas.
With the sanction of the Executive, Law No. 17,336 of March 30, 2020 now obliges residential and commercial buildings in the city of São Paulo to provide solutions for recharging electric vehicles. The determination, however, applies to projects filed from the date on which the regulation comes into force.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE IDEAL CHARGING STATION?

First Steps - Checklist

1- Check the specifications of the electric vehicle(s).
Before choosing a charging station model, check the capacity of your electric vehicle's battery and whether it allows direct current charging, as the charging station will not provide more power than the vehicle allows.

2- Check the type(s) of connector on the electric vehicle(s).

Check that the charging station used has the necessary connector for your vehicle(s). WEMOB® STATION charging stations allow customization with CCS-2 and CHAdeMO connectors for direct current charging and allow the inclusion of a Type 2 connector for alternating current charging.

3- Select the most appropriate Charging Station Power.

DC charging stations may be limited by the maximum voltage and current allowed by the vehicle. Even using higher power models, the charging station will not provide more power than the vehicle allows.

4- Check the Infrastructure of the Installation Site.

As these are high-power stations, it is necessary to check whether the network and power availability allow the installation of the charging station. We recommend contacting High Power (integrator) for a feasibility assessment.

ABNT NBR 17019 standard - specifies the requirements for fixed electrical installations intended to supply electrical energy to electric vehicles and/or receive electrical energy from electric vehicles. The text was based on IEC 60364-7-722:2018.
